Now in its fourth year, "Music for the Heart" uses world-class music to raises funds to support heart research and increase public awareness of heart disease, this country's greatest health risk. Music for the Heart is part of The Struble Foundation, an Oregon-based non-profit corporation committed to finding cures for heart disease.
Jazz legend and icon Dave Brubeck will be performing as The Dave Brubeck Quartet, at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall April 24th, 2008 for this year's benefit concert. Known as the king of jazz, Mr. Brubeck is among America's foremost musicians and recipient of the industry's most prestigious awards. At the age of 86 he continues to record and perform with his quartet throughout the world.
Founded by Portland heart specialist and classically trained pianist Dr. Jeffrey Pentecost, Music for the Heart is hosting the black-tie gala event to support critically needed research in the fight against heart disease, an illness that takes more lives each year than the other seven leading causes of death combined.
