Noontime Showcase: Pendulum Aerial Arts

Wednesday, July 11, 2012 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

Free

Say goodbye to springtime and help us give a warm welcome to summer by joining the PCPA and crafty co-op Handmade NW team every Wednesday in July and August for Summer Arts on Main Street.  From 10am–2pm, PCPA plays host to Handmade NW artisans and a rotating cast of performers in Portland’s downtown Cultural District. Running concurrently with the Portland Farmers Market in the Park Blocks, Summer Arts on Main hosts artisans from Handmade NW with a variety of handmade crafts available to purchase. The combination of performances, handmade crafts and children’s activities make this a great event for the whole family to enjoy!

Noontime Showcase 12pm-1pm: Pendulum Aerial Arts

Pendulum Aerial Arts photoPendulum is an innovator in both performance and education in the Pacific Northwest, mixing dance, theatre and storytelling with contemporary circus focusing on aerial works. The company creates new works ranging from vaudeville style entertainment to narrative-driven contemporary works. Fresh and fascinating, Pendulum’s work is a window into strength, beauty, joy, and the desire to take risks. Come see a unique, entertaining aerial performance.

Suitable for all ages.

This is the first of eight free weekly noontime performances which feature international music and dance. Bring your lunch or buy it on site and enjoy the outdoor setting, weather permitting. It’s part of Summer Arts on Main with free hands-on arts activities for children, artisans from Handmade NW, and a farmers market next door. This performance will be outside on SW Main Street (weather permitting) between SW Broadway and Park Ave., next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and Antoinette Hatfield Hall, 1111 SW Broadway, Portland. In the event of rain or extreme heat, the show will be moved inside the rotunda lobby of Antoinette Hatfield Hall. Tickets are not required.
